single wire alt.....

The positive off the back of the alternator I know goes to the battery. There's another prong on the back where does it go to?

 

Ground? Don't take my word for that, I'm asking 'cause I'll need to know that too.

 

If it is a single wire altentor all you need is the one to the batt.

If you are talking about a GM/Delco altenator, one wire connects to the "batt" or output of the alternator, the other goes to the idiot light.
