How much abuse can a Warn OD take?

    I've never really seen this discussed on here. My Warn OD is behind a hopped up Chevy 283 and it hasn't been injured so far. It probably helps that I have a low rear axle ratio (4.89) so due to the mechanical advantage makes the Jeep "feel" lighter to the drivetrain. So, how much of a beating can one of these things take? Anyone ever grenade one?

    I did - on Dutch, the first or second year I owned it. Took some teeth off the main drive gear. Can't trace it to any one event though. I used to like to get rubber in first and second gear but I wasn't doing it (as I recall) when I blew it up.

    I had a freind that use to sand drag with a muncie m21, d18 and a overdrive. Engine was a 327 with about 350 HP. He never did break his but he was in sand. He also used it in the rocks. Just depense on were you use the power.
