V6 Bell Question

    This bell is off a 350 Buick motor that was in FS Jeep...

    I have my 231 V6 and the T14 from Termin8ed in the pic below... will the pic of the bell attached to the T-15 in the picture work for me?

    I think it will but I'm not totally positive. Jeep used two different 'BOP' bellhousing one with a seperate adapter and one with the adapter molded in. Your transmission has the adapter on it so it is set up to work with the standard 'BOP' bellhousing but if you take that adapter off I think it would fit on the one in the pic. The T14 and T15 have the same square bolt pattern right?

    That is what I am not sure on... He only wants $25 for the bell, but I already have bought and sold another drivetrain because I couldn't find a bell locally for my 231, I don't want to pass this local one up if its the right one, because I will be able to use the motor I wanted to in the first place.

    what confuses me is mine I know is a T14A as stamped right on it... but my casting looks different these the pictures I see of the T14... like this... I guess they wouln't change that part of the mating surface though...

    Check the lenght of the input shafts, I think the t15 might be longer. You might not have enough shaft sticking out of that bellhousing with the t14.

    You have the adapter to a standerd 'BOP' bellhousing bolted on. If you took that off you would see the square pattern. With that adapter any Buick Olds Pontiac bellhousing would work. I belive mine was from a trans am.

    I know about the adapter, I mean the physical case where the gears are contained, I looked at pics of both sides and mine doesn't look like other pics. Maybe its the camera angle I dunno

    They might not all have that extra rib down the side, not sure, but yours looks like a t14.

    That's not quite true. You'll need one with a starter ear on the passenger side, but not one on the drivers side.

    Cast iron bell? (rust) Thats interesting! It looks like the 71 one piece aluminum bell.

    Ok, now I'm confused. I thought BOP's has ears on both sides?

    Some do, some don't. The ear on the one pictured is correct.

    I was considering using a T-15 with my 225 and I asked Eric over at Novak about it and he sent this reply.

    Now, the T15 and the Buick were not concurrent, and the T15 typically is 2" too long. The adapter you have may be for a T14.

    The adapter he refers to is the T-14 adapter common on the buick bell. I also have a one piece bell and I notice that the index hole is smaller than my adapter hole. Are there different diameter input bearing retainers for the T-14?

    Wish I had time to come up and look at it. Best I can do right now is add a pic of my setup with the same t14,adapter,bellhouse.

    The measurements arne't quite right due to the angle it was taken, but close.
    If that bellhouseing in your pic is about 9" deep front to back, it "should" work. Not sure what the bolt pattern is on the t15, but if its the same as the t14, and that bellhouse is right around 9" something(looks like the 1 piece bellhousing), take the adapter off the T14 you got from me and attach it right to that bell.

    I have a T14 sitting on a jack in the shop. If you need pics I can take them of the setup and BH attached and give you measurements.
