Tough call, been debating whether I want to try to restore it to look like new and then worry about tearing it up, or just have at it and have some fun.

I am a have fun with it kind of guy. Not saying go run into as many trees as you can, be somewhat careful but if you can't enjoy your Jeep because it is too nice then why have it? Oh yeh what needs restoreation, the paint looks beautiful and the tires just look perfect on that thing.

I think you have a beautiful jeep as it is. What a great ride. The repairs you have done so far are good ones. From the looks of it, that jeep looks to be pretty much unmodified. I wouldn't mess with the factory wiring unless it is shorting out somewhere and I wouldn't paint. It is way more valuable the way it sits now. Great Find.

Very nice, I agree with the "why paint it, it looks great already" comments.

Electrically, the only thing not working is the instrument backlight, everything else works fine, but the wiring is looking pretty shoddy, lots of wires handing around not connected to anything, etc. You think rewiring affects value negatively? Any ideas on the instrument backlight?

I would just remove any wires not connected to anything, and then just repair any wiring that needs it. A few zip ties here and there help to clean things up.
