Can you put a cj5 body on cj3b frame.

 

I know some cj5 frames have been used with 3b body's per the 3b page, so I would think the reverse would be true. Might involve some fabrication for mounts ect...

 

The usual swap is a 3B (or other flatty) body on a 5 frame. My advice would be to look for a CJ-5 frame, and put the 3B running gear under and CJ-5 body on it. To get the 5 body to fit, you'd either have to lengthen the frame or shorten the body. You could do it, but I wouldn't recommend it - you would do a lot of work for little or no gain.

Had a friend do that a few years back. Put a CJ5 body on a CJ2A frame. Pretty straight forward ordeal. Most if not all bodymounts matched up IIRC may have been an extra. Only real adaptation was in the rear where I welded some tubing to extend the chassis so that the crossmember sat where it was supposed to under the body where it mounts in the rear. Oh yeah the front bumper is a lot closer to the grille because it's not as long as the 5's. hth
