I want to say that you guys know way too much about everything. You have been a big help to me since I bought my first jeep. (my other wife who sleeps in the garage) Coming from knowing nothing, things are kinda starting to make since. Anyway, I recently bought a 74 CJ5 for a hunting jeep. For now thats all its going to be, but we will see later. The obvious thing that I am starting with is simple, I can go, but I cant stop. I have replaced wheel cylinders, shoes and etc, but I am having trouble getting the drum back on. I put 11 inch shoes on and the drum reads Max Dia 11.06. Are these just going to be snug or are they to big and I need to go to 10 inch?
Any help would be great because next is Steering Rod, Wiring, and who knows. I am trying to start one thing and finish and move to the next.

Welcome from KS! I moved your post for you. :)

The brakes might be a bit snug, but you need 11" shoes for 11" drums, then get them adjusted once they're on. Adjust until you spin the wheel and you can hear it just starting to drag the drum when it spins.

Sparkys got it. Turn your brake adjuster in all the way(at the lower of the shoes with the star wheel) put the drum on and them adjust till you feel some drag. Should go right on.

Dumb possibility that usually only happens to me:

Check your lugs to see if one of them is a little bit bent. The PO of mine apparently tapped one with a hammer. I popped it out and replaced it, drum slid on like *** insert off color phrase of choice here ***
