Ok, the tire place that put the wheels and tires on the Jeep broke one stud in the rear.

The front axle is a D30, they found lugs for it without many problems. However on the rear they had 10 that were supposed to fit a '71 CJ-5 and 10 that were "unknown". The "unknown" lugs actually fit. However, they broke one. So I'm one short. No jokes please. R)

So I thought I'd see if I couldn't help them out by asking you guys. I know someone mentioned that they'd bought longer studs when the replaced their brakes with 11" drums. MOP tried but the '75 CJ-5 lugs were too big at the base.

Any one have a part number and source or application that works?

    Thanks!

the 75 front studs should have worked
the flanged rear axle studs might be larger at the base
all of the CJ studs should be 1/2"-20, IIRC
the reason the studs were changed on 11" brakes: swaging; the serrated shoulder is shorter and does not protrude past the hub; this allows you to simply remove the drum once the wheel is off.
the longest I see in the factory book is 1-19/32"
maybe they can cross Jeep numbers ?
    945451 or 5353025

EDIT: those are stock length

When I replaced my rear brakes, I also replaced the studs. I just went to Autozone to find mine ('67 w/44 rear). They had to order them (next day delivery), and went for approximately $1.50 - $2.00 per lug. I found them cheaper at another place, but I was pressed for time and they would have taken longer to get there.

Anyway, the ones I got were a little different than the originals, but they still worked. The swaging was slightly longer, but the new brake drum I got had larger lug holes, and the swaging didn't affect it (no more OTC puller :) ). Now that I think about it, though, the swaging might have been the right length because the originals I pulled out were compressed and kind of mushroomed.

If the flanged rear axle studs are larger at the base that would explain it. My rear axle is a 2 piece. Stock 10" drums.

I know they're 1/2"-20, the issue is the size of the base and the length AFAIK.

Hmmm, I was in Autozone two days ago and asked. They claimed they can't get anything but stock when I asked.

The tire place claims no one can find them. I told them then we have a problem, I paid for 20 lugs, they broke one...

He took my phone number down again.

Pretty sure that Dorman is online. Can't look right now though. Search for Dorman-Motormite.

No, just one. I don't know why or how they broke it. I didn't ask. Musta been while installing it, I don't know, maybe they cross-threaded it.

Really ****ed me off to find out they broke one then claimed "we don't know the PN so we can't just reorder these".

Not finding it. Just some page that masquerades as it in the search engine, then you get there and it's nothing but a bunch of links.

Go into NAPA, when they are not busy. Tell the guy your issue and start suggesting other models to check stud size from. They have detailed specs of all the studs they sell if they look each one up.

Dang, I feel like every time I'm in there and I ask someone to just order something for me I've majorly inconvienced them. Especially that older guy, Marvin(?) with the glasses and reddish hair.

Guess I might have to though. Peerless doesn't appear to be doing too much even though I paid for 20 lugs. I asked the guy if he had my lug stud yet. Just shook his head no and said no-one can get one. Well, were you going to call and tell me this or were you just hoping I'd forget I've got one lug stud missing on the rear. Guy seemed surprised when I told him we had a problem then, I paid for 20 and they broke one...

Yup, looked at those right now MOP. Wondering, would the '74 rear with a .043" bigger knurl diameter be an issue? That's the length they used...

Would be sloppy and not firmly attached to hub.

Edit: but I am not sure 0.005 would be much different. Somebody?
