Ok I will be absolutely NO help with the carb prob.

But if you do have some mech skills, this should not be too bad.
Granted I have only owned toyota's (I know I will burn in the jeepers hellR) ) but it should all be the same.

First and most important; Make sure that you are at TDC compression stroke, and the marks should line up. if on compression stroke the distributer will point at #1 cylinder.

Second; before removing present dist. make a mark on top of engine for reference point where dist is pointing.

Side note; most distributers have a forked bottom under the gear so either you will be right on or 180 degrees off. major backfiring will go on if your 180 out. when removing dist, don't yank it out remove it gentle, watch where the dist is pointing after it is free and clear. When putting the new one in get the dist pointin in the same spot, and ease it down. With the fork under the gear the dist will not sit completely down if it is off a tooth or two. if it is off go reeeeaaaalllllll slow and careful when lifting the dist up, lift it high enough to get gear free, adjust it one tooth at time.

Third; do a couple hail marry's and put 'er back together, crank it up

hopefully it works well for you and other people will put in their two bits, because mississippi is kind of a long drive for me:)

The dist. in the 134 runs off the oil pump which in turn runs off the camshaft. The oil pump has an offset notch, so you can only install the distro one way. The only way to install it 180 out is if the oil pump was installed 180 out. If your JEEP is running fine then your distributor will be pretty much be a drop in and go. Of course the points will need to be adjusted and then re-timed.

Any questions on timing do not hesitate to ask.
