Have 134 in cj5 are 33s to large of tire for this engine. Not going to be used for street driving that often and not more than back and forth to work which is about 6mi round trip.

No 33"s should be alright. Quite a few members here with the :hurrican: and tires at least 33" and taller.

Not to step on any toes.
Personally I would be leary of the 33" on a 2.5" lift. I bought the superlift 2.5" lift kit and it said 32" were the largest tire for it. If rubbing doesnt bother you then press on. Here is the website from Superlift:

I wouldn't be leary of it at all. Animal, well known Jeep on this board, runs 34x9.5s w/ a 2.5" lift. I have 33"s on my 5 with a 2" lift as well.

Only rubbing on Animal is the usual rear wheelwell. My '62 with stock springs and 7.5x16s did that too. Most every CJ-5 I've seen does that if flexed.

Most will be able to run 33's with a 2 1/2" lift. I have run a 35" with 2 1/2" with a little longer shackle. Had rubbage issue there but not usually with 33's. Have had 33's on several of mine and a 2 1/2". I think that companies cover themseves so they they don't have to get to many returns because of tires rubbing so they never tell you too big.

    I have a 3" Black Diamond lift kit with 33x9.5 BF Goodrich's.
    LOVE 'EM!
Easy to steer on the street, pretty quiet and a nice ride.

my 2 1/2" with the 3/4" greasbale MORE shackles runs my 33's with no rubbing.....unless fully flexed and then its only like sparky said rear wheel wells a little

  12. I'm running 32s with stock springs and no issues. I'd say you'd be safe with 33s and 2.5 lift.

    I forgot to mention......
I still have the stock F-Head, stock 4.27 gears and it does alright on the road.
No highway driving because it flat dies on hills but two-lanes and back roads are a BLAST. :)

I had to adjust my steering stops but that's no big deal and it wasn't a huge adjustment at all.

    Love the combination.
