So which EZ Wiring kit do I get for a 74 cj5? The 12 circuit hotrod? or the 21 circuit?

The 12 should be MORE than enough for a CJ.

The mini fuses are about 2/3rds the size of the standard blade fuses.

I got the 21 circuit... should have got the 12. Now I got to figure out what to do with all those extra circuits, thinking onboard blender

I like the way you think Jeff!

X2 on the 12-circuit mini. Mine went in quite easily in about an afternoon & a 1/2 worth of work.

I had bought the painless harness originally, but it was way overkill and twice the price. Sold it for nearly what I paid for it and bought the EZ-Wire. Not one complaint.

FWIW, I'd not do the mini. Seems as though it'd be easier to get the standard fuses in a pinch. I bought the 21 circuit kit, mostly because it gives me the flexibility to do anything I can come up with in the future.
I just bundled up the extra wires with zip ties under the dash, all out of site, and not causing any troubles until I may need them. Think of all the extra things that you could "reasonably" want and count that as a circuit. I think by the time you get done with the "standard" items and then your "extras", you'd use up 12 circuits pretty quickly.

I have everything that came standard on a jeep and have 3 circuits left over. If I remember right a normal stock Jeep of this vintage would only have a 7-8 maybe 9 circuits. 12 will allow for a winch, radio, driving lights, power circuit for palm/gps or whatever. 21 would allow you everything on a modern car power windows, locks, cruise and all. 12 even allows for air conditioning. By the time most guys take out all that stuff or don't use it you have plenty left over.
I only say this as its just almost a waste of money and space for the xtra wires.

I'd go with the regular size fuses, easier to find in the dirt or dark when you pull one to check it(holding up a trail ride) and then the hecklers bump it out of your hand.

I got the Kwik-wire, which is the same thing, and got the 21 fuse model.

I used 2 flasher circuits (turn signals and hazards), 1 headlight circuit, 1 brake light circuit, and one wiper circuit. I cut out all the rest of the wires because I didn't need them. I cut some long enough to use them for other things (eventual rado, switches for off-road lights and other items).

The whole nine yards. Before you remvoe any wires from your existing harness, make sure you can match them to the wires in the new harness, either through common sense deduction or through a diagram

Because my headlights, wipers, breaklights, horn, etc all work fine. my problem is my alternator dosn't charge my battery, my voltage regulator isn't hooked up correctly, all the wiring for my gauges needs to be redone, stuff like that. would a ez wiring harness replace this wiring too?

the ez wire kt will replace everything form tailihgts to hgeadlihts and all inbetween. i ot the 21 ckt i did it cause i do not need ot ever wire anything else into the fuse box down the road. i know some say its over kill, but after you add some trail lights and xtra set of trail back up lights winch power, cb, elc aux heater, etc it just seemed ofr the little bit of money it made snese to go with the bigge one

the only iwres it did not come with, were the battery cables....it has EVERYTHING you could possibly need and then some. It even came with multiple wires for the alt depending on what type you have. i only needed one due to my 1 wire gm alt. I was VERY happy with the quality of the wire, fuse box, etc. and there phone tech support was great. all wires are labled every 6" or so i think, and its all color coded
