Just me or does it not say "JEEP" or "Jeep" on the cowl?

I see no "JEEP" or "Jeep" either... I also don't see the cowl seam just above where "JEEP" should be, indicating either A.- Someone filled over it, or B.- 'glass tub???

Did anyone offer a glass tub with the battery box? That's the only part that stops me from really thinking it's fiberglass...

Still think that it's got the whole panel on the side replaced. The lack of "Jeep" just furthers that.

Sparkys pic shows the sides I got for my '56. You lose all the detail but they can be a straight swap. I am planning to use the sections I need out of them so I can retain the bow sockets, fuel fill, and JEEP stamping of the original tub.

I've seen Phillipines aftermarket replacement body tubs that have a lot of the same features. I'd guess that someone had a 60 CJ5 with a totally rusted out body, and he bought a replacement tub, and a hodgepodge of swapmeet body parts to rebuild his Jeep.

Pics of what? We're discussing your pictures other than the one I threw up of the side of a Jeep panel.

I think everyone is refering to your Jeep's lack of the stamped Jeep name on the side and lack of top bow indents on the sides above the rear wheel arch (visible in your current pictures). This would indicate either replacement side panels or a replacement tub as these are indications of non OEM body parts. The battery box lid on the cowl of your Jeep (also shown in your current pictures) was only on early (up to like '63???) but wasn't on later OEM or replacement parts. People are speculating that your Jeep has replacement side panels welded on, or a replacement tub that someone actually went to the trouble of moving the (non-used) battery box lid over to the cowl. I would vote for replacement side panels installed. Your fenders are clearly '70 or later. Your windshield frame is also of a later vintage as early ones had top mounted wipers.

Your VIN places your Jeep as a January of 1960 build, which would make it a 1960 model year.

We talk early Jeeps here all the day long and tend to pick up on the little things. In this case it really isn't important unless you are trying to do a true restoration.

Nice looking Jeep though, what are your plans for it?

For fun, here's a similar pic of a Jeep I used to own, a '69 Canadian:

Note the bb cover & flat boss for the mirror on the driver's side cowl...same as Brad's.

    Fun discussion.
