Does any one have a good part number for the 71 225 valve cover gaskets? I have ordered 2 pair so far neither one of them have the corner that is not rounded?

Guess I haven't checked mine yet, I just ordered some, still in the package. I may find out later today if they're correct or not. Didn't know it was an issue.

All corners should be rounded...doesn't the 231 have what you describe?

    The firing order stamped on the cover is 1 6 5 4 3 2.
I thought that was the firing order for the 225. Is it also the firing order for a 231?

Are your rocker arms cast or stamped steel? The 225 has cast rocker arms, 231 has stamped steel rocker arms.

They are stamped. It looks like it is a 77 231 odd fire. I guess it could also be a 76 the number was 1254083 for the block casting.

And since I had to go look, all 3 of my 225's have that same corner on them, On the first I thaught it was maybe a fluke that I baught a 231, but the other 2 are for sure 225's.

I'm sorry but those valve covers are not for a 225. 225 valve covers have the same radius on all 4 corners. Edelbrock doesn't make any valve covers now that will fit a 225, haven't for years!!

Well I looked at almost every brand made for the 225 and they all had rounded corners. The covers pictured are for a 231. At least the head cast numbers I have come back to 76 231 heads.

Heres all 4 sets I have, 2 that are on the heads are guarenteed 225's (original engines). If these are impossibly 225s, then I need to know how?

Those ar not 225 heads or valve covers in the picture. If you pull the valve cover off your rocker should look like this:[IMG]
As far as how, easy, someone at an earlier time swapped a 231 oddfire motor in. Check the casting numbers on your motor, look at your rockers, are they cast aluminum or stamped steel. Check your intake, look at your timing cover, is the timing mark cast into it or bolted onto it??? Cast rockers are 225 only unless swapped out. Oh and a Buick 225 is a 3.7 liter not a 3.8. God I hate the metric displacement stuff.
