We just rebuilt our Buick 225 and we are so happy with the performance we are getting. We have a 68 CJ-5 that needed some work. We started by Rhino Lining the whole jeep inside and out. Then we tore the engine out and had it rebuilt .030 over and kept it stock. We got rid of the junk stock carb and went with a Holley 350 two barrel carb, what a increase in power. Then we junked the stock distributor and went with a HEI from CRT performance, great upgrade. Needless to say, we bought one thing that didn't work at all, it was the Pacesetter headers, they suck... and so does the company. Want to increase hp, take off the fan and install an electric pusher fan mount it on the grill, and we live in Arizona and it gets hot, but our jeep runs cool. All and all, we hear of all kinds of stuff people do on this site, and we just wanted to share our success story with what we used. Also, we got rid of the clutch cable and went with a AA chain linkage.
Thanks to everyone we got info from on this site. and yes the engine is Powder Coated

a fellow AZ guy...how-d... i am all the way east just north of I-10 =)
i am about to build my 231 punched .030 over with several of the things you have (except the fan so far but i am getting one). i hope i get the same results.
question for you. you have a pusher and claim it runs cool. is that durring the summer too or just so far since the build? is that a pic of the engine? nice looking..thats how i want to paint mine if so. that buick blue with chrome.
anyway, congrats on the build and welcome from AZ.

we had the pusher before the rebuild, and it great. We just use the Jeep for getting us to the river and playing during the summer.

Why a pusher rather than a puller? Longevity of the fan motor?

For me, I used the pusher because of space. Lots of room in front of the radiator, not much room behind it.

the puller can draw more air at the same motor speed etc (no limit to the speed of air untill it reaches the speed of sound), but if you need space (like we all do), a pusher might work fine. pusher is limited to how fast it can force the air through through the radiator (BIG difference with vacuum vs pressure)
just alittle info for those who dont understand the difference.
i am really considering a pusher now. thanx for the insight.

can you email me pics of your rebuild? I have a 225/231 bored to 235 and need to put the headers on because the manifold hits the steering shaft. I don't know if they will clear the clutch linkage on the frame. I just got them yesterday but haven't touched anything on the jeep yet. It would be nice to see pics of how it should look, although I have a 72 and i don't know what differences there will be
