I was where myJ eep was today (inlaw's cabin) and snapped a bunch of pics.
I have dozens and will be posting lots of them with lots of questions in the near future.
One thing I noticed today while looking things over a little closer was that the alternator had a Motorola label on it? There was also something mounted on the inside fender wall that said Motorola on it and had wires running to the alternator and a couple going nowhere:rofl:

Also the Jeep has no brakes..........traced the lines to the MC. It looks small? I removed the round access plate in the floor and saw a bolt (with large flat inc. washer) is this the fluid reservoir? Whose idea was that one?

It has a Dauntless V-6 that was not stock when new. How do I tell if it is odd-fire or even fire?

    What does FLAP stand for?

    Is HEI ? electronic ignition?

I got a million of them.................questions that is.

First time posting pictures here........hope it works.

    Thanks, Jeff

What year? Looks to be a Tux Park, some of them had the V6 Dauntless in them factory. If it is a Dauntless its an oddfire.

On the brakes yes thats the fluid resv under the body.

FLAP= Friendly local auto parts (store)

The Motorola thing is most likely the voltage regulator.

Jeep looks good. Sure appears to be a Tuxedo Park.

A factory service manual would be a big help with answering the first half million and I’m sure the board would be happy to answer the other half. http://www.earlycj5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14378

Welcome Jeff, you have a very solid jeep to work with.

    Wow........thanks for all the welcomes/replies!

The jeep is a '65 Tux Park. If I understand correctly the Dauntless came out in '66. My father-in-law and wife's uncle put the Dauntless in.

Ok the Motorola thing is probably the voltage regulator, makes sense. The alternator is a Motorola. I had no idea they did anything automotive like that......

    Here's a few more pictures.........comments please.

My Jeep had a Motorola alternator when I got it and I had nothing but problems with it. My advice to you is use it as a core and get a GM alternator with internal regulator. Save yourself the frustration I went through.

I'm not entirely sure.........I think it is a four speed.
What would the shift pattern be? 1,2,3,4 H and R upper right?
Seems like that's what it felt like.
I would think I want it to be a four speed..........right?

This jeep had balloon tires with very deep wheels on it before we put the new tires/stock rims back on.
That explains the Pismo plaques on the dash.
It also served time as a snow plow!
