Black Diamond 3" here with 33x9.5's.....

I JUST installed a Black Diamond 3" on my '71.
    Along with 33x9.5 BFG's.
    NICE lift kit!
The only "bad" was they sent the wrong u-bolts for the front axle.
    WAY too big. :(

Yes, they are owned by Superlift.
Superlift was on all the boxes.

    The driveshafts appear fine.
I may do the tie-rod flip on the steering.
The angles are a little too severe for my taste.

    See the pics.

    Good luck!

Hey if you want to go with a 2.5 inch lift. National tire and wheel has it on sale for 399.00 with everything. You can get a 4 inch superlift for the same price. It is a good deal, if you do not mind superlift. I just put a 4 inch on mine and have 35's on, with ross box for now. It drives down the road straight and can go anywhere.

    Yessir, here's a pic below.
My plan? To use the tie-rod flip bushings, rebuild the bellcrank, install my fresh V6 Ross box and eventually convert to cross-steer.

    How does it drive?
I did a "driveway alignment" after the lift.....the toe was COMPLETELY out of whack, now it's 1/8" in.
I haven't had it on the street. Immediately after the lift, I started on the brake upgrade.
It steered fine putting around my yard. :)

Here's a pic of the steering angles.
Not pretty but the aforementioned upgrades are coming.

    Hey guys,
I think that I'm on the verge of wanting the bds more than the black diamond. Will the bds sag with my heavy front and back bumpers? Click on my blog to see some pics of it. I'm wanting it to hold up my bumpers, but yet have good flex on the trail. What do ya'll think?

The BDS will hold the bumpers just fine. Here's a pic of DrewDog's '65 with the BDS 2.5, and 33" LTB tires. He carries alot of equipment and a tow bar, and wheels his rig pretty hard. The BDS lift holds up just fine; I'm sure you'll be happy with it.

Hey, Missouri 71, keep us updated on how the tie rod flip goes and how well it works on your rig. I have pretty much the same setup, and have been thinking about doing the same conversion.

I agree rig looks sick. Let us know how the flip turns out. This might be a stupid quesion but Is there anyway to do a cross over steering with the stock ross box?

the tie rod flip setup works great. i did them when i first lifted mine and it gave angles that were flatter than stock. i have since done a power conversion so i can't get you pictures, but i can tell you there is no bumsteer to be seen.

also, be carefull to bore the hole stright and weld he inserts to the knuckle during the process...

edit:: without the flips and the bds millitary wrap i was hitting the springs when leaving my driveway and making right hand turns. it led to some wobble and an immediate corrective action. just telling you so you wouldn't be surprised.

I've heard that the BDS shocks ride pretty stiff, can anyone confirm this?

I went with a Pro Comp 2 1/2" lift that came with four good Pro Comp shocks and all the hardware for under $400. I ordered it from National Tire & Wheel. For some reason it was about $75 cheaper over the phone then it was online. As for the ride I'm happy with it.

I did a bds 2 1/2 on a 75 last year and it worked out really well. It was stiffer then my 3-b, but it has a m38a1 frame with a shackle reverse so it rides really smooth.
