Now that I have an assembly in the mail, how does it work? Is there a component in there that you have to clean. I imagine there has to be some sort of filter also. Thanks

Just a metal mesh element that the FSM says to wash with kero or something similar as I recall.

FSM gives the SOP for proper care and feeding of an oil bath air filter. ;)

Uhhhh I hope not..... Youre supposed to clean out the mesh element with kerosene, and then dry it out. after that refill to specified line and replace. easy and cheesy

    Hi guys,

I found this old thread as I want to change the oil in my oil bath air filter on my 69 V6 225.

We're folks serious in saying to use the "old/used" oil to fill the oil bath?

I've never dealt with an oil bath air filter before, so I can't tell if this was a joke or not...

    Thanks...

That's all I've ever used. Why not? It doesn't lubricate anything, just traps dust.

When you do change the oil, you'll see how much dust has been trapped. It won't take you long to decide often to change it. They are very effective in leaving the dirt there for you to see. If you spend a lot of time on really dusty trails, check it often. Just stick your finger in the pan and give it a swipe. If you come up with a fingerful of dirt, that will be your warning to get it changed soon.

But, don't ever use Thousand Island dressing in the zerks! AMHIK!

    Dan,

Can we use regular olive oil or does it have to be extra virgin olive oil (evoo)? And is there a brand preference for the Ranch Dressing, Kraft, Hidden Valley, store brand? Also which might be better natural or synthetic (artificial) flavor?

I sent Rachel Ray a pm. Maybe she will know. R)
