Calling All Un-Modified Firewall Owners- I need your help :)

From time to time someone somewheres will post a message to the effect that they don't know What Firewall Hole Does What on Which Year Jeep

    Today it's my turn

What I've done is by looking at Tonka & photos I've er, um, "borrowed" off the net I've made up a drawing of a firewall with what appear to be common openings to all & some others that appear on more than one example-

What I'm primarily interested in is verifying that for a '55 firewall I have all the various holes properly identified & that the ones I've left off of the drawing really wern't there when it left the factory. If you see any mistakes or you know what any of the un-identified openings are I'd appreaciate hearing from you-

Getting more ambitious I'd also like to know what the extras from the other vehicles are for & what years they showed up with the idea of doing a different drawing for each year/iteration

Obviously "stock" walls will be better for this purpose so if you've got one & wouldn't mind either taking some photos or doing a mark-up, again, I'd really appreaciate the help.

I've posted a GIF in this message in the interests of saving bandwith for you dial-up guys, for those of you who'd like to do a "mark-up" drawing the original 2 meg MS Paint-able BMP is
    here-

    Thanks,

    Howard.

    Howard,
Mine's out right now so I'll get you a picture of it (completely stock 1970). Printed off a copy of your GIF and will try to match up holes and fill in some of the blanks and add any mine has that yours doesn't. Good idea, man.:v6:

I "think" (could be dangerous) that C and F are leftovers from the M38a1. I think C is where the battery cables passed through and F is where the drain for battery box for the cowl mounted batteries. Could be wrong but seems that's what I've seen on stock M38a1's. Nickmil.

My '71 and '65 both have the heater control cable at hole "e". My '65 has another hole, just below and to the passenger side of the main harness "3", with grommet containing more wiring and the vaccumn hose for the heater controls.

Alright Howard. I will try to describe my stock firewall as best as possible. I have a, b, c, f, and g. d, e, and i are definitely not there and never have been. I have 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, and 10, and your descriptions are correct. Holes "2" for the regulator i don't have. I have three screws in a triangulated pattern to hold my regulator on. There are definitely no holes for "2" as you have drawn. I also have three small threaded holes that you have not listed. one is under "g" and two are at the driver's side bottom frame rest, running vertically. I have no evidence of "8". I also have punch marks for the Patent plate, but no holes drilled. (Strange!) I have a screw hole next to "10" to mount the original style signal flasher. I also have another knockout you didn't list just next to "g". That's about it. CJ
