4.3 swap

    Im running the 225 with sm420 and 18. My question is can i use my bellhousing if i put the 4.3 in. Thanks.

    No, the 225 is a BOP (Buick-Olds-Pontiac) pattern, and Chevy is different. Summit/Jegs sells a plate to adapt BOP to Chevy, but I'd use the correct Chevy bell - no big price difference and stronger/better.

    I'm afraid not Jim. The 225 uses a bellhousing to block pattern that fits Buick, Olds, Pontiac, and Cadillac, commonly called a BOP pattern. In this case Chevrolet is the oddball. You will need a Chevrolet pattern bellhousing. One should be easy to attain. Be aware that truck bellhousings using the SM-465 tranny use a larger indexing hole so that won't work. Your 420 uses an indexing hole the same size as GM car tranny's. Nickmil.

    Thanks guys, I just got back from Gray Rock and Im tired of carb problems. I guess that means changing fly wheel and clutch also?

    So fuel inject the 225, not a huge issue, just search around here for mega squirt fuel injection.;)

    Hey Mike, My 225 is getting close to a rebuild and i can probably save a few bucks going with the 4.3.
