i have been thinking, should i sell, or trade for a cooler project. i want a fastback mustang, or a early bronco, or ford hi-boy.

my question is should i just get this jeep road worthy and trade, or would i be able to sell and buy what i want.

it stands right now: starts up like a charm, drives and shifts really good all gears feel smooth.

what it comes with: hard top with doors, serface rust, some seam rust, and a some glass cracked.
full whitco soft top and doors, one window is broke but in really good shape.
snow blade with belt driven pump, ram goes up but i think i need the weight of the blade to make it go down

whats new: rebuilt carb, full tune up cap, rotor, points, plugs, wires. new batt, brand new reupholstered seats.

what it needs to be road worthy: ALL brakes: master cylinder, wheel cylinders, all soft and hard lines. pads, drums good need to be turned.

front end center link ends replaced (tie rod ends)

gas tank, fuel pump, and line that goes to fuel pump from the tank.

    and some cables and such.

body/tub. as a body man by trade, it is in really good shape. only rust threw i can see is rocker panel rust on both pasinger and driver side, from rat poop, flaking rust buy tail light, and the wind shield frame. oh and the gas tank floor bord. and serface rust.

so if your still reading and wasting your time, what do you think its worth if you wanted it? because i already had some dealers waste my time and almost broke one guys nose, (not everyone can get stuff for dirt) thanks for your time, josh:) oh and i have pictures on my web site below...

Uh, you're asking about an ECJ5 price for a project "cooler" than an ECJ5 on an ECJ5 website?

I like it, original speedo, one original tail light? Looks solid. The normal, what's something like this in your area go for applies? $800-$1200? It's not in spectacular condition that I can see and I see that it's not road worthy. If it were road worthy I'd say $2000 or so. But you'd put more into it to get it there than you'd get out of it quite possibly.

its not that i dont like it, cause i think its cool as hell, its just that its a little small for me (6'4 250) and i plan on making it a daily driver. im sure i will change my mind when i drive it, im mean how do you cope with the position of the driver, what makes you drive your jeep everyday? (please dont say "its a jeep thing" cause that is sooo corney) because i LOVE to tinker and all, i just really havnt made up my mind, please give me some advice!!

Wheelhouse notch and an overdrive will help with the daily driver.

Search for "wheelhouse notch" in the forum here, that'll get you more room so you're more comfortable. But it is a small vehicle still...

IMHO, its value expecially in Utah is going to depend on the buyer. This state is swamped with ECJ5's. When I picked up my first one it was a little less than what you listed and didnt run for 250$ and a case of corona. I got my second one for 100$ not running but road worthy. Third was found in a farmers field, 100% complete and running, not road worthy for 500$.

Thats just experiences and Im a hell of a negotiator :) If I were into needing another headache, I mean project, Id offer you in the range of 7-900$ just for the hardtop and doors. Other than that, its just another run down un restored project.

Im not trying to be rude, crude, mean or in any way hurtful, but like I said this place is full of old Flatfenders and CJ's from the 40's to 60's

woah i didnt think hard tops are worth that much. i would be happy taking 450.00 for the hard top/doors, and my snow blade... just so i could get it road worthy.

but yeah i know its not worth a whole lot, but if i were to get it road worthy hopefully i would like to trade it for some thing of equal value, same condition and all. i think i will know better when i actually drive it some. thanks for your time josh:)

I think he meant $700-$900 for the whole thing, because it HAS the hard top and doors, and they're in good shape. Not that much just for the top and doors. At least that's how I read it, I might be wrong.

Thanks Ron, Josh that is what I meant, I would buy the whole thing for parts and use what I could and probably give the rest to Hickey since he needs as much help as possible. Your not that far off from making it a very capable streetable rig.

Im sure you want to trade up since you want to use it in Moab?

If thats the case, find a late 80's early 90's Cherokee, buy some used parts and wheel the crap out of it.

If you want a cool weekend warrior, snakes trail rig, then stick to the CJ and enjoy. Theres alot of CJ owners here in Utah, Very fewon this site, but alot here. If you need to come by and check out some spare parts, let me know, I have no idea where Lindon is, but Im just north of SLC in the layton clearfield area.
