I contacted the people at Hedman Hedders about the availability of Hedders for the :v6: with the AIR heads on the motor. They tell me that they do not offer a Hedder for that head. Yet I have a Catalog that has headers from Hedman for the :v6: R) You guys know if the Hedders for the non-AIR heads will fit. Or is there a company that has headers for the AIR:v6:. The heads on the motor I have the tubes bent over and the AIR pump has long since fallen off the Jeep along with all the brackets, hoses and tubes. I plan to either plug the holes or replace the heads with non-AIR units from an earlier motor. Any thoughts and/or suggestions would be apreciated. Thanks..

I installed Hedmans last year, retiring my old Blackjacks after 10 yrs of service.
My '71 must have had the pump/air heads... all that is left of that system is some fugly bolts sticking out of the heads :D

Plug 'em up if you aren't concerned about originality. If your pockets are deep, get the Hedmans Jet-Hot coated. Wish I would have... :(

I just got my hedders. I am getting them sand blasted tonight. I have the POR 15 high temp grey manifold paint to go on them. The black paint that comes on them ,,, well it comes off pretty easy. We will see how it goes. $145 to the door, they also came with what looks exactly like the header buddies I have seen advertised.

I don't think there is any difference in the exhaust ports in the 2 heads, so if the air ports are plugged the hedders should work. They probably either said no because of emmision law or that if the air lines were installed the headers would not fit.

Not to get to off topic, but I went thru a set of the hedmans in about 6 years, the salt air in Hawaii did them in. Guess if I woulda pulled them and painted them every couple years might have lasted much longer. Got a new set with the jet hot coating mentioned above and they are NICE. Same header but coated and lifetime guarentee (we'll see how that goes)

Thanks Mike and the rest, Thats what I figured too. Our DOT:twisted: inspections around here consist of " ya ya Ole' da ting hass tirers and a seats belt. OK goot to go Ya Hey!". So the old AIR system will probably disappear with alittle R) "head" work. And the coating of POR sounds like the way to go. Thanks for that tip..The salt air around here is only in the winter. Wind gusts to about a hundred when ya pass a semi on the County Highway though. :coffee: :coffee:

IIRC, all :v6: after '68 had the ports in the heads. For the "48 State" versions, the ports were pluged with bolts, like my AZ '68:v6: . CA had the AIR.
