On this cj where does the spring for the emergency brake, (on the underside of the car) attach. I think I know but it looks like the distance is too far for just the sring alone to reach. Is there a steel extension bar that the spring hooks onto and then onto the bracket?

If I remember right on my early '5s and CJ2A there is a metal rod with a hook at both ends to extend the spring to the attaching point. I think it is about 6 inches(?) long but it's way to late to go out in the falling snow right now to check. If no one else has more info I'll get back tomarrow after plowing.

    Sorry Gwillys for the delay,
It seems that my CJ3A has two springs that hook on to a rusted part of the hat channel and I'm sure that is not factory. My 65 plow Jeep is about the same and the 66 CJ5 I changed to a centered transfer case which has no e-brake. I sure remember a extension though from somewhere!(?)

    All,
I had the same question about the piece that extends to the spring.
I have a parts list that shows this piece and part #, but to no avail finding someone that can get it.
I will plan on making mine too.
Without the extender, the spring puts to much tension on the brake and your brake handle won't be able to set it, the spring will pull it back.
