Dana 44 question

Does anyone know if the Track Lock from a 2003 Wrangler Sport w/3.73 will fit the '71 D44 Track lock w/3.73? I need a new carrier w/spider gears, clutches etc. and figured on replacing the whole thing with a new one.

 

Dont think so. You can always call Randys Ring and Pinion.

 

NO, it wont, the spline count is different, and your carrier is a different size. Unless you want to hone the carrier walls, and swap shafts, find one for the right axle.

 

I have 30 spline, Flanged axles. The same as the one I am looking at. I keep reading it will fit. Is there a good site to read about the differences?

 

Had this dicussion with my buddy at a 4x4 shop the other day. The carries are machined different on the TJ 44s then they are on the old CJ 44s. They are not interchangable.
