Anyone have an easy way of rigging a brake light switch? I found the wires by the master cylinder where it should be. For now I ran wires to a remote button tie-wrapped to the steering collumn. Kind of fun but a challenge and hard to remember. thanks.

Sure, get some garagedoor mounting hardware, a couple of zip ties, a carberator spring and some imagination and fenagle it under the dash, then laugh really hard when the spring breaks and slaps you on the leg.

Actually. I just hooked up one of those master cylinder pressure switches and it works great. What kind of MC do you have?

I tried that, now I need a tetnis shot. It's the original MC. I thought about a pressure switch but am afraid to touch the brake lines. Could be a new can of worms. Brakes work but kind of marginal. Something for another day.

Just in my experience, if you have the single cylinder MC and not too sure on the brake lines, replace them all. I know its a pain, but I did the same thing and one day they sprung a leak and no brakes. A heck of a lot more fun than no brake light switch;)

What Dondo said. A pressure switch is easy to rig up. Esp. if you have a single chamber MC.

Makes sense. Brakes have been farther down on the list but more of a priority now that it's mobile. We were planning on minimal driving arround beach-side but now it's running and a lot of fun! Plus a previous owner patched the floor and covered up MC access hole, what-a-buddy. Any good (and cheap) sources for brake lines?

Walck's has prebent. That's my preferred method. Much cheaper to go to NAPA or any other FLAPS and buy brake line and bend it but what a headache, JMO. BTDT both ways.

I've...uh...gone both ways myself. On my pickup that is. Went the cheap route first and wasn't happy with it so I replaced them with stainless. I need to keep the Jeeps value in perspective though.

Got to midfifty.com and do a search for 1954 f100 brakes there is an electrical brake light switch that mounts to "through the floor" pedals and I think its about $20. Also of you go with a pressure switch in the line find out what PSI the switch come on. stock is about 50psi and some of the newer ones come on at 10PSI.

I see you have a honda scooter, check out the rear brake light swithch.

You get one of those with a spring for 10-12 bucks.

In addition to the 11" brake upgrade I also got got a pre bent kit from Walck's and installed it. I had to since all the lines were frozen and no matter how much PB Blaster I used most of the old lines snapped. Replacing the lines was the better option.

Over the weekend a nosey friend of mine stuck his head under my Jeep and found the pressure switch with no wires going to it. Timing hasn't let me don anything about it yet but I know it's there.
    Thanks, again.
