Does anyone know who sells new stock seats for a 1975 cj5? All the after market seat seem to be for 1976 and newer. Any input would be great.

KDX, Either Four Wheel Drive Hardware or Jeep Essentials sells a good repro. but only the fixed-back model (driver's side). Looks and works great!!

If anyone knows where to get a folding type for the pass. side, I'd love to know!!

I looked extensively a couple years ago, and couldn't find anyone making a folding passenger seat.

You'll do better to find some originals and look for the upholstery kits on eBay.

Mike, don't the later model CJs have folding low backs? I'm sure some of them have lowbacks....I've seen a couple and actually know where there's a set for sale pretty cheap. Seems if someone was considering buying the bestop low back classics (like I did) then these would fit as well and if they fold then a person might be right where he wants to be.

Yep - hence this thread looking for a set for a '75. AFAIK the seats were unchanged from the late 60's up through sometime in the late 70's.

Trouble is you're still looking for a set of 30 year old seats....maybe you could hook up KDX with your seller....

I know where there is a pair of low backs from a CJ7...not quite sure of the year but I think they'd work for you. They're in MS so I'm not sure if the guy would be willing to pack them up and ship them and the fella isn't very responsive so it might take a day or so to actually get him to reply but it's worth a shot if your interested.

7 seats don't fold though, the just kinda spring forward on the seat frame up to the dash. Unless these are like some I've not seen which is entirely possible since I never took much interest in a CJ7. ;)

You're exactly right and you'd think I'd have caught that wouldn't you. The guy's selling the seats and the frames. I have no idea whether or not the seat frames could be set up to mount in an early 5 though. If they could, that would be way cool IMO.

I have searched extensively for replacement seats for my 74 w/out success. I know a guy with 2 nice seats from a late 70's CJ5. I drove over to his place & we measured the mounting holes...they were way off. I suppose if you could find later model seats in good condition, you could make an adapter bracket. The aftermarket seats, while looking good, dount mount to the intermediate brackets & dont fold & tumble. I am going to pay $400 to recover mine...problem over & solved. :)

This guy will sell them those seats for $100, at least that was his price to me & we are aqquaintainces, not friends. If you want his contact info, PM me.

When they are recovered do they use the same fabric the factory used. I.E. would you be able to get Levi's fabric for a Levi's model?

Yeah, the guy just up the road from me tried to get me to use the Levi's fabric, but since mine is not, I'll pass. Speaking of which, I "HAD" a Levi's rear seat. A guy who needed 3 buttons bought the seat for $75  just for the buttons, and now he has a lot of extras. Unfortunately, I don't have any name or contact info for him.

As I think back to my 79 CJ-5, I remember the pass. seat moving forward on a linkage set-up. The folding seat must have gone the way of the under-the-seat toolbox in 76.

So I'm new to this Jeep thing, but I've figured out that the chances of finding CJ5 seats that fit a grown adult is slim to none! I made on of my most exciting purchases to date today regarding seats. The front vinyl seats from a Ford ambulance...any year will fit the contour of the rear fenderwell perfectly with some easy to make seat brackets. The seats seem to come in gray, black, and tan and can be readily found in a junkyard!

The seats from an 80's Ford utility van (phone company etc...) are just like the Ambulance seats, low back w/slider fit and look like factory, I did these in my 55cj so I could lose the PO's high back overstuffed things, when you hit the salvage looking remember the passenger seat is normally not used so they are normally pretty nice condition and driver and passenger seat are identical in function. you want the commercial utility van not a custom van.
