I just took my 73 for a ride and I noticed I don't have any brake pressure when I apply the brakes. Pretty scary first time happened. Once I pump the pedal they seem to be fine but minutes later , same thing no pressure. What could be causing this???

I assume you just put new brakes in it. Did you remember to bleed the lines before you headed out?

    Possible causes:
Worn shoes, worn drums, bad wheel cylinders, low fluid in the master cylinder, master cylinder shot, or just air in the brake lines.
You'll have to do some troubleshooting and start eliminating possible causes.

It will be back. Prolly when you least expect it. Can't hurt to bleed them.

I highly recommend adjusting them, then bleeding them.

A '73 has self adjusting brakes.

If you don't have the skill to inspect the brakes, take it somewhere and pay to have them looked at. They will not get better on their own. Any other course is simply gambling with your safety.

My guess - you probably need a new master cylinder.

look under the dash where the master mounts an brake pedal rod goes in it u may find a leek if not i would say it is still bad also air in a brake system will not go away unless u bleed the system remember to start at the right rear wheel an work to left then right front an left front i find the best way to blled a system is open 1 bleeder at a time an let it drip foe about a min then close it have someone push the pedal an open it dont do the pumping thing

While the '73 has selfadjusters they sometime freeze up. Mine did, and just last night I had to fix them.

I am with Timgr on this one. You are asking questions that suggest to me that you should seek the skills of a mechanic. You risk not only your own safety but the safety of others.
