Hi all. Back in my younger days a neighbor of mine had a snow plowing business and one of his rigs was a brand new 1973 CJ-5 with 304 V-8, Myers plow, Myers Half-cab, and a hyd. "scraper" or "grader" type blade on the rear. It might have been a Myers brand also.

Have any of you guys ever seen this type attatchment or know who made them?? It was definitely factory made. I don't know whether it was power angling as well as up and down or not, but it was a damn handy looking arrangement.

If anyone knows where I could find one of these in operable or repairable condition, I'd sure like to know!!!
I'd drive a good distance to buy one. Any ideas??

    Thanks, Jim

I see rear-mounted units around here, but they don't look like a snow blade or grader blade mounted on the rear. They're usually shorter, and have sides to them.

For some reason I've come to call these things "drop boxes", but in Googling around that doesn't bring up any useful results.

I took a quick look at the sites of the major snow plow manufacturers and don't see the rear units there either...which seems odd because I know the ones I'm seeing aren't all ancient...

    Thanks for the info. guys.
Mike, the jeep that I described was located about 20 miles from you in Fennville. The town that I grew up in. The guy who owned it was Pete Hartsuiker. He bought it from the Holland Jeep dealer when it was on the east end of town just past the old Russ'. I think they may have mounted all the plow equip. as he had them do all the pm and repairs. BTW your description of "drop box" sounds about right. Hope I can learn more about these things, I'd really like to have one (too yet)!!!! LOL

Cool...that's the same dealer that Dutch came from. My dad bought some parts there early on and the counter guys remembered the "diesel Jeep", mostly because they had only sold 3 of them.
