Ok Jeepers My Haynes manual says 85# for all. Some in searches say 110 for all but #13 which is 100#. And the spec can change from year to year. What says the collective unless some one has the AMC manual that lists it.

    thanks

I am seeing 110 ft-lbs for all except for the front drivers side #11 at 100. This is done in steps. Locktite 592 recommended on the threads. Not sure why one is different.
10 lbs is not much on a head bolt unless it is a different size.

Right now everything is at 85#. Where did you find that number?

Several places. Looks like that #11 goes in to the water jacket. It looks like the 4.0 liter uses 1/2' bolts and the 4.2 7/16" That seems to be the difference.
Some say dry and some say with lube. I would do very lightly oiled and wipe off any excess.
How did we manage pre-internet? Got it done though.

The very first one you posted says 85# for 4.2 and so does the rest,

Interesting that it has 1/2" bolts yet the torque is reduced. At 85 ft-lbs I would re-torque for sure after a heat cycle.
Not sure what else changed between the 4.0 and 4.2. Lots of parts interchange.

Well I got Lola put back together and I guess the timing was off 180 and one of the push rods not in the slot and the valve was not moving. Took the number six rockers off and adjusted the rod and like magic it starts pushing the valve. Amazing when you get it right it works…lol. Turned the oil pump around so I could get the Dist to drop in and it is still one wire off. Turned the Dist hard counterclockwise and got her to fire up. Just not enough turn to get it to idle. Then it started raining. Hurry and clean up because driveway mechanic things. lol But she did sound good, got me all happy may get to drive her this weekend…

I’ll post a video tomorrow. The rain was not cooperating with the repairs. Maybe one day when I grow up I’ll have a nice shop

I have a bad vacuum leak on the intake. I guess the double stack type gaskets did not stack correctly. I ordered the Mahl one piece. I got it in last week, just have not had time to pull the manifolds off again and install. Maybe this afternoon after Church.
