I’d go through a lot of cardboard to get something that looks as nice as what you created!

The firewall in this looked like someone took the hood off, stood on the cowl, and spent about 15 minutes swinging a sledgehammer at it to get a rear distributor to fit. It’s a bit too stretched to get back into shape with a shrinking disc, so it’s getting replaced. Covering a big hole is the reason for the sheer size of it, and the angles are there for transmission clearance, and even more-so, structure. It’ll give a fair amount of strength to an otherwise floppy wall.

Dont worry, it’ll all get covered up with a ridiculous console integrated into the dash. I’m glad I won’t be around to see it.

Ok, I hear you there's a lot of stuff I get to do "per customer request" that don't make much sense...

Excellent work. Luke was lucky to have you for the time he did.

Welp, this will be my last progress report in this thread. My time there is done.

I made a fancy jig that looked like 1/2 of a gigantic apple slicer to accurately mark and replicate the wheel openings. I got them cut out, then tacked in a 1/2” wide strip of 1/8” material for a lip.

This rotted out corner was the last section of cancer that needed replaced. I cut it out, then used that piece to trace out a section from the original rear floor panel that included the proper rib.

The body came back off and flipped over. I finally got to take the hat channel sections out of the box and get them welded on.

Here’s a better shot of the lip in the wheel arch.

After nearly two hours of tacking and blending…

The one last item on my to-do list was the angled supports that give the side supports (behind the seats) their rigidity. I had an hour and a half to bang these out before quitting time. I found some old bead-rolled test pieces in the scrap pile to make these out of for a little extra flair.
The piece on the right is a body mount.

    Thanks for following along!

Does the owner of the jeep ever come into the shop to see the progress being made on the body?

We send him a lot of pictures to help justify the enormous bills he gets. He was there once last year before we really got started on it. He lives elsewhere; Arizona, I think.
