RATTYFLATTY I think you need a little more throttle

Picked up a Darex M1 drill bit sharpener off Marketplace this past week. Now to find a good place to put it and print a manual.

Drill Dr weights 2lbs and fits in the drawer of my toolbox.

Hopefully that does more than my Drill Dr

Nice score man.. as Scott said above.. I've just got the old drill Dr. It has limitations but for smaller bits it's been a life saver. Larger bits I do by hand, not well, but I get there.. How much did you score that for?

I have always been going to pick up a Drill Dr but never got around to it. This came up and for only $80 and everything seems to be in good shape. The Drill Dr would store better but this setup seems to be of better build quality and adjustability. Lastly, I was able to print the operators/owner's manual so I can get it set up correctly.

    Personally, I wouldn’t give $.02 for a drill dr.
It’s a cheap plastic remake of this amazing tool. Nice score!

My dad was a drill sergeant (pun fully intended) when it came to learning how to sharpen bits by hand. If it wasn’t right, he’d cut it off flat and have me start over. I hated it then, but it’s an invaluable skill to have.

I absolutely hate drill bits. Especially when they bite me.

I'm forced to agree. It seems idiot proof but apparently it's simply made me a better idiot. :(

I've had great luck with mine.. Granted mine was not the base model but I've had it for years and it works well especially on smaller bits. Stuff over 1/2" i can do well enough by hand. I wish it would do split points though.

I sharpen drill bits by hand, a lot. But I have and do use a drill doctor occasionally, they are not bad but they do require a learning curve to use correctly. If I break a drill badly I use them to put the form back on correctly, simply because it's quick and easy. I then finish sharpening them up by hand. To be honest if I was paying full price for a Darex like that one, I wouldn't own one, I would just keep sharpening by hand. Now for a decent price for used one, sure I would take it.

I've used my Drill Dr. to sharpen drills hundreds of times with good success. I have no complaints with it, but would happily replace it with this thing.

Sorry I didn't see the ask, but it was $80.
