Is My Jeep A Kaiser Or American Motors?

    Just wondering if anyone on here would know why my 1968 CJ5 Title says it’s an American Motors Jeep?

    Wasn’t it Kaiser in 1968? Also, my Data Plate says Kaiser Jeep so why would the ownership say American Motors?

    It's a Kaiser Jeep, like your data plate says.

    Likely a clerical error made by someone at the DMV when someone titled the Jeep after AMC bought the name from Kaiser. The clerk may have looked at something that identified "Jeep" as being AMC.

    I've seen some really odd things on titles that the nice lady at the DMV tossed on out of habit..

    I have one title that came with a M38. For make it says Jeep, for model it says 2 door, for year it says 1949, and for "VIN" it says CJ2A. That might have worked in Georgia but not in Tennessee.

    Neither. It is a Jeep. Kaiser and the AMC were simply the corporation that owned Jeep at the time. Just like Stelantis currently owns the brand.
