I rebuilt my 2G, and now it seems to leak out the accelerator pump squirter. What did I do wrong?

Well don't know what accelerator squirter is? Not in the manual or rebuild kits. If you are talking about accelerator activating lever where it goes through the carb housing then your float level is way to high or needle and seat is jammed open and flooding the carb. Pic's would be good.

Did you put the discharge check valve ball & spring in?

Yes, somehow I remembered the discharge CV ball. It seems like I have a float, needle/seat problem. With the engine running, the gas pours out of the main venturi's and floods it out. After it's shut off, it gurgles and sounds like a toilet flushing, all the while dumping gas into the intake. I took a picture of how much gas was in the bowl after I took it off, and it looks about right. But this is what's left after in dumped a bunch into the engine.

Is your fuel pump overpowering the needle? Is it the original mechanical pump, or an electric pump making too much pressure? I assume you have set the float per the spec.

Also check the power valve to make sure it is not stuck open. That is the brass valve between the jets. It is opened by the vacuum power stem that is swaged into the cover. Mike's carb parts has a video on how to remove the power valve correctly.

"It seems like I have a float, needle/seat problem."

I agree, that does seem to be a very possible cause.

Turn the top upside down and jently lift/lower lift/lower the float. If the float does not lift and lower the needle smoothly then it will flood the carb.

It's a stock mechanical fuel pump. I've tried a couple different floats and it keeps doing the same thing. I flipped the cover over and the float doesn't stick, and seals up as it should. I will look close at the power valve.

I believe I have found the problem. The wire retainer for the needle gets wedged between the float and the pivot rod. It stops it from moving up or down.

That will definitely hold the float down keeping the needle open to the seat causing flooding. Good catch.

Hope you found it. I had similar issues with mine before I finally sat down and watched a couple vids explaining how it all worked. It was either the float needle or power valve but runs like a top now.

One thing I did have to do and not really related to the fuel dripping was drill out and install a brass tube so the throttle shaft sealed up better. That made a huge difference

    I'm just adding my 2ยข:
Get the 2G running well...it really is a great carb. I've been running mine almost 20 years. I've often considered and researched other forms of fuel delivery, even FI.
I decided the carb is reliable and easy for all types of my driving. I even bought a shelf spare when the reconditioned ones were available.
I did read where putting a fuel pressure regulator on your incoming fuel line is a good way to control splash on hill climbs (dial it back to 2 psi). I haven't done that yet.

Got the float problem fixed and carb back on the truck. Runs like a top, thanks for all the help.
