Guys, as I get ready to get back to the '63 build I need to see if I can get the stock height for the CJ5 B and C pillars. I put cages in and attach seats to them when I build them. This one has a hard top available (though its buried right now) so hope someone can get me the height to work with.

    Thanks

I have a Meyers hard top. It is about 33.5” from the wheel well to the top, pic included. This is at both the B & C pillar locations. The back of my top slopes forward slightly, so a vertical bar from the wheel well up would have to be about 5” forward of the rear of the tub. Let me know if that doesn’t make sense or you wanted something different. IMG_1520.jpeg

Mine is a Kelly, which apparently has a bit lower roof line with 32.5 inches to the roof supports. Back is straight up, not sloped like the Meyer.

What kind of insulation do you have on your roof ? Going to recondition my top soon and want something to dampen the noise.

It’s some stuff I bought off of Amazon called Uxcell heat and sound insulation. I just refurbished my hard top and am getting the Jeep prepped for snow plow duty. I haven’t driven it yet to see how big a difference it will make. I’m sure it will help but not be magic as so much of the interior noise comes from underneath. I’m planning on making a more finished looking headliner as well, we’ll see when I get to that, a few more pressing projects need to get done first.

I was be surprised how much noise a booming hardtop makes. To make my Kelly top bearable, I jam a folded over towel between the roof and the roll bar. The difference is amazing. I'll be the sound deadener helps immensely:

Dang - that means I need to dig the top out enough to know what brand - will probably go with the 32.5 as I think that matches a roll bar height that I 'believe' was stock.

Or I'll wait on the C pillar until I get the top dug out... but soft tops slope so more to consider..

Guess I'll make the guy buying it make the final decision since he lives across the street and save brain cells

For some more reference, the height of the vintage SmittyBilt rollbar in my '69 is 32 3/8" from the top of the fenderwell to the top of the roll bar.

My Kelly top is about 33 1/4" from the top of the fender to the inside surface of the roof.

Just an automotive reference - the A pillar is the windshield, B is Front row seats (back of front door at latch), C is rear row seats or rear window frame. Cages have hoops that match those areas.
