I just picked up a 55 CJ5 and it had the original Willys speedometer. BUT the needle is broke off and it is missing the glass. Is there a good vendor that has these parts or if you used a shop to restore it, what was kind of a ballpark price for restoration. 372926164_10161017627397369_1599056908494218022_n.jpg

It won't be cheap. Bob's speedo is local to me so I took my 77 CJ speedo to him to "restore". Note that it worked fine, and didn't need any parts. Bob's does first class show quality restorations which include replating, painting, new graphics etc. better than new when done. As I recall, the cost would be well over $500. We both agreed it wasn't worth spending that kind of money on a lowly 77 Jeep. He did check the function of the speedo and all the gauges for me for just a few bucks. The key is to not use the term "restoration" but rather just make it functional. Good luck

The curved glass is un-obtanium but there are clock glass replacements that are pretty close to the right curvature.

I’m pretty sure the later 12V Stewart Warner outer bezel and flat glass interchange with the early 6v King Seeley speedos. That plastic needle is real fragile. Your “dots” are real faded too. These used to come up on eBay every month or so, but I haven’t watched for the last couple years.

Depending on what you plan to do with your CJ, there are aftermarket replacements but not a fraction of the cool that speedo is.
I'd be saving up my lunch money to get it restored, it's just so unique
Good luck and keep us posted.

I have a later CJ5 Speedometer that I believe has a good glass and needle, otherwise it is probably junk. You may be able to use the glass and possibly the needle, I don't know if there are differences in size from an early to late, but seems like the glass ought to be the same.

Yours for the price of postage if you want it.

The glass is interchangeable with the Stewart-Warner units but the KS came with a domed glass, as I mentioned above these aren't available but curved replacement clock glasses are a fairly good match if you want to keep with the original look.

There were stainless steel bezels used at some point, I used one on Tonk to replace the rusty chrome one.
