Do a search for this. This has been covered many times and you will find plenty of info on the site.

You may have better search results using your favorite search engine. (google or....?) search something like "earlycj5.com steering column swap"

A problem you may encounter is the ‘71-older Kaiser-era CJs had the column attached to the bottom of the dashboard in a slight indent with a simple U-strap to retain it. Starting in ‘72, AMC and newer CJs had the column extend way into the dash (4” or more), first with a “horse collar” bracket welded to the steering column (AMC), and later the column extended through a large hole through the dash.
Be prepared for possible major dash surgery. Some of the aftermarket tilt columns are pretty simple (and small diameter) and can be clamped similar to the original attachment. I’ve seen the ‘80s type columns installed by using a similar year entire dashboard swap. Do your homework!

I cut into my dash when I installed mine. Got the wheel up higher and off my lap that way

CJ7 should be a GM style column.
