Probably just that. Not real old, given the screw cap.

As a kid I can remember seeing alks-seltzer that was in glass bottles just like that. Had a blue label and a metal screw-on lid. Also had a small round foam disc on top the first alka seltzer tablet to collect any moisture and hold the contents tightly in the bottle for transport.
Us Ol Fogies may not remember names but we can remember alka seltzer bottles!

Clean it up and put it on Lucinda Williams ring finger, then sit back and enjoy the music!

What is this ring/shim between the spindle and knuckle? Maybe this is standard on D25 - just not that familiar with them and haven't seen one on a D27.

I find it odd that it so many ways to go on. Is it the same thickness all the way around? Could it be for camber adjustment.

It should be tapered, it's for caster and camber adjustments. Possibly 5*, orientation is important for perfect alignment. Ron

x2, the orientation of the shim could vary after the caster is set. with caster set the camber shim would need to be straight up or down with the thinnest portion either at the top or bottom, whichever is needed. So the reason for the multiple bolt patterns.
If you decide to not use the shim be sure to keep it, likely those cannot be bought anywhere.

X3, alignment shim usually for camber, but could help caster too.

Quick caliper check shows thinnest portion about .040" and thickest portion .105" or so.

The bent axle tube bandaid. Curious what you will find for camber with those removed.

yea - trying to figure out if I should re-install it, or just leave it out. Its not hard to get to, but its not trivial either.

Also known as a Cosmo shim. We did a lot of alignments in my dads shop back in the 70's-80's and we kept some of those in stock.

I had one of those on the passenger side when I redid my d27. I used a digital angle finder to compare the driver and passenger side when the axle was disassembled to see if the housing was bent. They were parallel so I left the shim out. I haven’t had it on an alignment rack but it handles well and there is no unusual tire wear.

Alignment shop installed them on the new (therefore not bent) D44 axle I installed under my van 20 or so years ago.

16925423825597995908958609316606.jpg What's this? It came off my F134 engine and I can't remember where it went. It was in the box with about 100 bolts and nuts when I got my motor back from the rebuilder. I took a ton of pictures before I tore the motor down but didn't get a pic of this. It looks like a mini vent, it has a pin hole in one side. It's about 1 3/4" long with a slot in the top for a flathead screwdriver and the threads are fine. The fitting is 7/16" and looks like 3/8" diameter.

    I guess I can't upload a picture yet? I'll try later.
