I'm wondering what the stock manual choke bracket looks like on a 225 V6. This is the static bracket that holds the cable sheath in place as the inner wire moves the choke open and closed. How does it attach and what does it attach to? The one I have is a goofy little bracket that mounts to the top of the carburetor through one of the top carb screws and that screw constantly comes loose. I'm pretty sure this isn't the original mounting bracket... Photos would be great if you have them. That looks like the original bracket. Here's the one on my '68 for comparison:

No problems with it coming loose here. Perhaps that longest screw that doesn't bottom out and a lock washer in that spot will help. Blue locktite could work too.

Isn't there an L bracket that mounts to the engine somehow between the firewall and the carb?

Well I'm surprised that this is actually a factory part. On one hand it's well made but on the other its fitment on the carb isn't as good as what I would have expected from a factory part. The carb certainly wasn't designed with this in mind... My threads are so sloppy now due to wear I think I'll helicoil the carb and see what happens with a lock washer or Loctite.
    Thanks for the quick responses.

I had that problem, my carb actually had the top few threads kind of stripped. On my carb the hole that screw went in was not a blind hole. The hole went through the body but only had threads part way. I tapped the hole all the way and used a longer screw. It hasn't come loose since.

Making sure the choke cable is not binding and well lubed is a big plus also.
