Does anyone make replacement foam for 1970 buckets? I had mine reupholstered a few years back and they look good but the foam is now getting saggy.

When I was doing my 71, I spoke with the local upholster that does car interiors and he said he could do the foam and shaping pretty easy. His quote was reasonable, I just happened onto some other seats.

You can get the foam in sheets from any upholstery supplier. Just use your old foam as a template.

I have found the easiest way to cut and shape foam is with an electric knife. I prefer to stack thinner layers of foam using rubber cement. I think stacking layers simplifies adding bolsters and helps maintain an even edges, height, and/or thickness. JMHO but it's worked for me.

I used to have an upholsterer that did a few sets of seats for me. At my request, he used at least 3 different densities of foam, shaping them from scratch . We used the firm foam on the outside bolsters, and the softest foam in the center of the seat. He glued up layers, then used an electric carving knife for rough shaping, then did the final shaping with a 7” disc sander. He was an artist!

Those guys - virtual Leonardo da Vinci with foam. Used to have a friend that did the foam and I did the metal... and made me feel like an idiot with an electric knife.
