72-75 Steering Column Shaft?

Have the new tube, but someone destroyed the threads on the old shaft to hold the wheel on.

Can’t find a new one anywhere. Anyone know one that works? The new column has the new bushings already installed.

    Any help much appreciated

How badly destroyed? Rework them with a thread file?

It looks like someone put channel locks on it and tried to spin the threads. Clearly they didn’t spin due to being one piece. So it smashed it up pretty bad. I might be able to make it work but also wouldn’t mind just finding one that works

you need the shaft that runs in the column?
Is there a difference between a P/S and manual?

Yes that’s what I need and no, I don’t believe there is a difference

I have a complete '74 column from a cj5 minus the turn signal unit. Not sure what it's worth but if you are interested in it I can find what's a fair price. I live in Lincoln.

Take the bare shaft to a good machine shop. They can use a lathe to recut the existing threads. Bring a new nut along with the shaft.

If Jim doesn't have what you need, although it sounds like he does, J&W Jeep in Antelope probably does.

Mark or Neil hands out a jar of vaseline to each customer, LOL

That would be killer. I’ve got the turn signal unit already. Let me know a price!

HAHA! Yeah they're proud of their parts. I'm glad they're local but only go there as a last resort.

Haven't overlooked you on the steering column, been buried in unforeseen krap.

Well, I called around to find out what a steering column sales for, minus steering wheel & turn signal mechanism, and was shocked at the going price. Also stunned to find that J&W and others don't have a one in stock! REALLY? The cheapest price was $300.00 plus tax. Better come with a FREE jar of vaseline!
Robert, I sent you a PM.
