New to the forum and looking forward to all the insight you offer. I recently purchased a 64 cj5 and am in process of diy floor pans. I have some skills in fabrication but missing parts make it a little difficult. My question is what is the thickness of the rear floor hat channel and what have you guys used

What the factory used wasn't enough. It's Maybe 18ga for the channel, i'ld go 14ga if I were making them.

I ran across one post somewhere I believe said 3/8 tall. Is that right? Doesn't seem like much.

Measured a chunk I had left over. .047, 18 GA. At the time I put it in I thought it was pretty sturdy.

I used 1/8" Checker Plate, you can find it at any fab shop. I put 1" X 1" angle along the wheel wells and laid the checker plate it and welded it in, adds strength to the tub also. It is about 36" X 36". Good Luck

Stock 18ga hat channels are adequate, and quality replacements are available from Classic Enterprises or MidWest Military up in Mn. Just be sure to paint them inside before installation.
