Hazzard switch source?

I'm looking for a stock hazard switch that goes in the dash for a '71 cj-5. I haven't been able to find one aftermarket. Does anyone have one, or a part #. Jeep used it until '72 or so-on the cj-5's. The switch in my 1970 CJ-5 has a red lens that lights up when the lights are flashing and it looks like a headlight switch.

the Jeep number for the kit is: 936026
this would be as if you had nothing, and wanted to add it to the Jeep
I've seen 2 of these in about 5 years on ebay
course, I coulda missed some as well.....

The odds look slim. I've already wired the jeep for the stock switch. It is a single throw 4 circut push/pull. I think it was made by cole hersey for jeep, but I can't find it on their web site. The part # seems to be something like 70203-01 and it has 5 blades. Hopefully someone has one hanging out in their parts bin. The surch goes on!

Was this an option or standard equipment? I've been looking for the same thing.

 

I have '70, '71, and '73 CJ-5's which all have a seperate flasher switch on the dash. The '73 does not have the red lens, just a black knob. I think people end up going to the hazard switch that is intragrated in the turn signal on the column as the unit wears out.
I will let you know when I find a replacement part number.

I found part number for one for a 1969: KIT FOUR-WAY FLASHER 936026, might have to check some jeep bone yards.

The original equipment four way flasher switch is the Flarestat 105 is made by Signal Stat (which is now part of Truck Lite). The 105 is out of production. It has been upgraded to a Flarestat 127 and has a built-in electronic flasher, under dash bracket and fuse holder.


This special order part is available from FleetPride or NAPA and is around $75 with shipping. If you are wanting to keep the Jeep original you can install the old access plate on the new unit and wire it back into the OE flasher. I chose to use the whole new unit.

I discarded the underdash bracket and installed the new switch in the dash securing it with the old nut. There are three wires that go to the signal lights on the OE switch. The 127 comes with 4 wires. I capped one and connected the three remaining red wires. The blue wire is a ground if you use the under dash bracket. The brown wire is the hot wire.

You can also special order the red knob. It is replacement part number 07332. There are photos of the installation at the link below.

I did look at that but chose the other one since it has multiple wires out. The knob on the 102 is more like the original (no letters). It is a good alternative and is rated at 20 amps like the 127.

 

Do you have the original unit? If it were intact but did not work, I would open it up and try to fix it. Drill out the rivets and disassemble carefully.

Typically these switches contain phosphor-bronze contacts that either wear out or are simply dirty. If the switch moves but does not contact, I would first load it up with contact cleaner and cycle it a few dozen times - good possibility it will start working.

I have one I removed when I re-wired my '71. I'll check to see if it is an original.

 

So it is a: FLARESTAT, Model # 105Y148, SIGNAL-STAT
New York Toronto
4 Wires, Yellow, Green, Black and Brown.
It worked fine before I removed it.

Flarestat 105 switches are rare and big bucks ($100+) on that popular auction site (ebay).
Can't find a source for new production/new in box Flarestat 127 (the newer upgraded switch) anywhere.

The Signal-Stat 102, model no. 102Y1 is listed on the Truck-Lite site but not priced. I'm not sure if they do online sales.

The 102 has the same red knob like the OEM Flarestat 105 but it is really not the same switch (only two wires).
The 102 (and 127) lacks the chromed hex nut bezel; they have a knurled ring instead. They still have a die cast metal zinc body though, which is kind of unusual.

I need a light bulb for my Flarestat 105. It's a bayonet socket (push-turn). Anyone know the part number, size, type, wattage?
On the above site, it lists a bulb under Frequently Bought With 07332 called "Bulb, Mini #53 274004". I wonder if that's the right bulb....?
