Bob M and I are trying to figure out if there is a difference between the rear bearing cap for a 4" bore (large case) vs a 3" bore small case. Is the rear bearing cap interchangeable between the two size cases?
Also, Is there a difference between a rear bearing cap with TC parking brake vs one without the TC parking brake? Without being able to see my own cj with the TC parking brake, I feel like it has to have machined flat surface for the backing plate to mount against?

    thanks all....

I'm pretty sure the rear bearing caps are the same (interchangable) between small and large cases. The Wagons/trucks don't have a brake drum assy like the CJs, so they are different. Trucks don't have the machined flat for the backing plate. I'm pretty sure I have interchanged CJ and truck rear caps when I wasn't concerned with a parking brake.

the back of the bearing cap on my small hole 18 with a T case parking brake was fairly flat, but there wasn't much area where they met. (this is all what i remember, may be incorrect. don't really want to go check at 2:00)

I believe the rear bearing caps will interchange just fine. But I don't see any way that you could mount the TC drum brake to a truck style cap. I have a truck transfer case in my 2a and I swapped the cap to a CJ one for the TC brake so I could have a parking brake. No issues other than a slight adjustment to the shim pack.
