Quick question. I had a guy rebuild the carb on my '73 this week. When I picked the jeep up it was still running a little "funny". He said to fill it with high test just one time as it will take the carb a cycle or so to get right....

    Sound correct?

I don't see how that's possible, unless the valves/plugs/cylinders are fouled somehow.

Why are you hiding your profile? Please put year/model/equipment in your signature so we don't have to ask every time or guess.

"A cycle or so to get right". That's not right. You can try to run it for a tank or two and see what happens but it sounds like the mechanic improperly rebuilt or didn't adjust the carb correctly. "Hi test" gas wont' do anything to help clear anything out.

I hope you didn't pay Bubba a lot of money only to get a half-done carb.

When I REBUILT AND CLEANED my motorcraft 2100 carb for my 304 engine it started right up and ran fine with some minor adjustments using a vacuum gauge to set it with. Using regular non-ethanol gasoline.
