I am replacing my Rearview mirror with one that has AutoDimming and Map lights and was wandering if the windshield frame is open enough to fish wire? I have a nylon fish, but it is too thick for the job, and was wanting to know if it is possible before I buy a thinner fish... Thanks in Avance for any input...

The frame is hollow. Its like 1/2" x 3/4" or so. The problem would be the hinges on either side. There is an 'arm' on the hinge that slides into that hole at either end. You'd have to have the wires coming out half way up the windshield. Go see pics in the intro section of what I had to do to get that arm out for my new frame and you'll understand.

I see what you mean, would that keep you from continuing around more to the middle of the bottom section??? Does the Arm actually block the path???

Yes - the upper w/s hinge blocks the path. You'll need to run the wires on the surface. Use some wire loom and it won't look too bad. Otherwise if you have a full cage, put the mirror and wiring on that instead. That's my plan....

Yup, there is a little room, like say an 1/8" on one side, but not much. And thats probably full of rust anyways unless its brand new.

I'd go cage mount if you can and run the wires down that. Should be plenty of room.

Thanks for the input... I am glad I found this out before attempting to fish the frame. The mirror I have is a windshield mount, so I will wait until I finish by cage and just run the wires up and through the cage. I think that should be pretty simple. I will just hookup a quick disconnect. So it is easy to drop the windshield.... Thanks again for all the helpfull info.

Your rearview mirror will be smarter than the rest of all the electronics in the Jeep put together!
