    Hey guys,
I have a shackle question. When my Dad and I built High5, we just made shackles for it. Well, we didn't put a middle cross member in it, now I am looking for some that have it. I figure that this isn't good not to have since all of the aftermarket shackles have them. The questions I have are, how long are stock shackles and how long would a 1.5 inch lift shackle be???? I'm looking at greasable ones from Quadratec. What about driveline angles??? Would this work OK with stock driveshafts???
    I guess I'm rambling now :D
    Thanks

i don t know what is the exact length of the original shackles but i did lengthenen mine of by making some 2 inchs longer. it is nice of road but for the road i found that the caster was change and my 5 is a little unstable the back is no big deal but the front i had to short tgem bac 1 inch so that it would be ok .

i would not recomand more than 1 .5 inch lift on the front and even then i had change my back 1 for revolvers shackle and i really like it .

1 of my friend did lengthened his skackles 2 inch but he also lowered the spring perchs 1 inch so it work well and did not change caster dramatically. good luck al

A 1.5 inch lift shackle would be 3 inches longer which in my opinion are way to long and would require you to reset the caster angle. Also the longer the shackle the more it will flop around when turning. I have the .5" lift four wheel hardware greaseable shackles with poly busings and they tightened up the handling a bit. I did the calculation and it only changed the caster 2-3*, but i had extra caster so it don't effect anything.

ysorry what i meant was 2 inch longer shackles
and not 2 inch total lift.

when u speak of shackle lift 3 inch longer shackle are way to long u will feel unconfortable drive as u gonna turn ur jeep gonna do wobble rigth to left and so on

this is especialy true at high speed

Ok, so I currently have shackles that are 3.5 inches to the center of the bolts. I'm not sure of the stock distance so I don't know if this will lift at all or not. I know that the right way to lift is with springs, which are in the plans, but right now I want to replace the shackles with something better. I figure I might as well get a little lift out of it :) So , if someone knows the distance between bolts on a stocker, I would appreciate it.
    Thanks

I could be mistaken, but I *think* they're 2.75 inches. I know this has been discussed here before and if I remember correctly, that was the consensus...
