Timing Cover Mod

Any idea why the previous owner would braze this onto the timing cover?

 

Vent connection for the front axle? Not like I've ever seen that done, but in theory it could work.

 

The invert flare fitting is OEM on F-heads. The metal tube may be a mod.

Sends oil from the filter into the timing gears. A precise orifice maintains oil gallery back-pressure.

 

I guess I should have looked at the photos of when I took it apart last fall. Thanks for your help

 

Just so you know, that was an oil line from the factory. Like Pete says, It went from the oil filter return into the timing cover to oil the fiber timing gear, may want to make it original, that may control your oil pressure, the original line was pretty small. I would check it out to be sure, Good Luck
