My Son has brought a 1958 CJ6, Basically all original except the rims and tires. Cool old jeep. We have rebuilt the brakes. problems is when you hit the brake pedal the drives side brake light comes on then if you hit the cultch while keeping the brake pedal down the passenger side brake light will come on? That is not normal is it??

Wiring is goofed up. Actuated by a pressure switch, id start there.

Its a mechanical clutch, it shouldnt have anything to do with brake lights

No that's definitely not normal. Does it have the stock on the frame master cylinder?

I'm guessing the clutch pedal is hitting the wiring loom going back to the brake lights making an intermittent connection act up. If stock there's a couple of butt connectors down by the steering box connecting the dash harness to the rear wiring- check them for loose or corroded connections.

    Ok, Thanks.
It does have the frame mounted master cylinder with the pressure switch.
