Radiator Overflow Tank Options

I might worry a little about using untempered glass like that. I mean, it isn't likely, but if that glass gets thermal shocked with a big hit of hot coolant, it could get ugly.

 

Not exactly factory, I’m guessing.

 

Well I’ll be ding dang donged. Noticed I smelled what I thought was antifreeze. Looked under and no drips. Got home and lifted the hood, no drips out of the end of the overflow tube. Nothing around the hoses or thermostat. Nothing around the radiator. Then I saw a small stream of steam back by the firewall. Sure enough, the back exhaust manifold bolt. So now I know where it’s been going. I think she must have loosened up the bolt just to be ornery.

 

No, bolt. I assume the rebuilder did, but I will be redoing it. Had thought about putting a stud in but out of sight, out of mind. As I recall, there were several studs that were bad, but since it’s been a couple years, I forget. Need to pull the manifold and replace the studs but too much going on right now so I’ll just pull the bolt, goop it and and go, for now.

 

Always! She’s a sneaky devil. She’s a horrible monster. Has green snot drooling out of her nose, her knuckles drag the ground, has a giant wart on the tip of her nose with multiple hairs growing out of it, black beady eyes, a shrill screechy voice and a disposition that’s worse.

I just went over this with the wife. First, she got a great laugh. Second, she said, I’ve heard this before, the lady at the grocery store, the bank teller, etc., etc. I guess after 47 years with the old bag, not a lot of new tricks I can do.

And to twins. Technically, we’ve been married for 41 but dated for 6 before, starting in hs. Both agreed not until we both go our degrees. Week after she graduated, we married.

Thanks all for the inputs and suggestions. Ended up going with the Dorman, went in well (had to build a couple of mounting tabs), but for ~$16, didn't think I could go too wrong.
