I know there is a a lot info on front disc brake conversion. I have access to a ton of j10 and j20 trucks from late 70's to mid 80's. I was wondering if I could use them to scavenge parts off, mainly caliper brackets and calipers. I would like to use on a 27A front axle disc brake Conversion. - Thanks

You realize that the J10s are 6-lug and the J20 is 8-lug. Starting in 1974, the Jeep truck axles were exclusively open knuckle Dana 44. The J10 and J20 got the same track, but the J20 has a higher GVWR axle called the Dana 44HD. Supposedly the only difference is the hubs and thicker tubes in the HD. From 1980 on, these trucks switched from passenger-side to drivers-side drop.

Whether you can use the caliper brackets, I don't know. I would use the calipers as cores and swap them for remans, if I could use them at all. It's likely that the calipers would bolt on, but whether the alignment in-out would work, I don't know. If you had a J10 Dana 44, you could narrow it and have a disk brake open knuckle 44. The 5-lug Ford hubs can be used on the Jeep spindles, and that pattern would match your rear axle.

First post - welcome from Massachusetts!

Thank you for the reply! I really only want to use the caliper mounts and calipers(cores) from the j10 or j20 since they have Dana 44. I have used 80's chevy trucks with Dana 44 front axles (caliper mounts and calipers) in the past. The j10 and chevy caliper mounts look very close.
