Finally pulled dash. Found that all of the lights are missing. I do like the old speedo vs Omix replacement. Is there a way to get new light sockets to fit?

Also is there a way to take it apart to clean out under glass?

I’m going to not use temp or fuel meters as I’m going to install aftermarket ones.

Cool. Thanks. I just took it off dash and now it’s looking like there was never lights to light up the speedo? Only the warning lights for oil, high beams and amp? The other holes don’t have notches in them for light socket ( if I am seeing that right?) I tried to shine a light in them from behind and doesn’t appear to light up speed at all. Looking further doesn’t look like there is a way for the light to get to front around edges of glass or through numbers.

    thoughts?

I am newer to Jeeps so not sure how these things are. Seems like if rigs had lights the speed should show fir night driving.

Google "instrument cluster bulb socket" and you'll find plenty, might have to go with plastic ones though.

Dorman 1815's fit but since they are cheap I had to adjust some of the prongs so that they'd stay in.

And the difference between the holes with notches and without isn’t an issue?

No issues. Those don't work for the amp and oil lights though.

The trim ring is just folded over the housing in 4 places. Undo two adjacent folds and it comes off. With the bezelnoff the housing you can unscrew the mechanism from the housing and see which bulbs are shrouded for indicators and which are for back lighting.

beat me to it...between the 4 mounting holes, on the back side are the 4 tabs. you should have little cardboard tubes that keep the light on each gauge or indicator...i believe one bulb lights the speedo, though i think its pretty anemic.

I have a moth in my speedo too. I was wondering how it got there... but after seeing you also have a moth, maybe they were original equipment?
