I'm in the process of putting the project jeep back together. Finally have the body on and I'm to get my clutch adjustment tuned in.

I've read a couple of different methods, Im trying to follow the one in the manual. If I understand it correctly, the pedal should hang about 3/4 of an inch from the top of travel.

I've adjusted the cable near as far as it will go and the pedal is hanging almost 3 inches.

It seems something is wrong. Im trying to avoid just firing parts at this.

What I know the clutch never really worked well when I picked the jeep up. Mind you it was a basket case at that point.

Its a F134 with a T90 and it has the 9 1/4 clutch. The cable measures 11 or so inches and appeara correct for this setup.

The link bar measures a hair over 10 inches, closer to 10 1/4 then 10 5/8 thats kaiser willys seems to call for. Resizer_16045379512451.jpg

The clutch fork feels like its sitting correctly on the ball. I didn't replace either the ball or fork both appear to be in good shape.

Am I doing this completely wrong ?

That cable looks more like the engine stay cable to me.
You could have the wrong clutch cable as well. There are different lengths if I recall.
The cross shaft..is it installed correctly? What if you reverse the mounting; the tab angles would change.

I did buy an omix clutch cable that was supposed to be correct. The original and the omix both measure about 11 inches. The original (pictured) was hair shorter then the replacement but the cable appears to be much thicker.

The old kaiser willy catalog calls for a 11 1/4 inch cable. I feel the clutch cable length is pretty close.

I think the Z bar is installed correctly. The position its currently in is with the pedal hanging 3 inches or so from top of travel.

I found the problem. Turns out it the pedal arm was installed without the shaft key. The arm wasnt properly indexed.

I wish i could blame somebody else, but i was the idiot who installed the pedal arm.
